The Connected World We Live In

Anthony Boright, president of InvestorCOM recently published the following article in the Investment Executive titled, The Internet of Financial Things. This article really sheds light on the world of connected devices we live in and how this is being introduced into the financial services industry. As a CIBC customer I saw another example recently when I was notified weeks after the Apple watch launched that CIBC had an app for the Apple watch which allows customers to check their balance, review recent transactions and subscribe to notifications. Another example is the “robo-advisor” firms that not only enable customers to execute trades directly from their smartphone; they also have an app that allows a new client to open an account directly from their smartphone!

Question – is all of this truly innovation and making life better for customers or disruptive innovation in that consumers feel like they are too connected and always “on”?
